About our cacao

Ceremonial cacao

At our ceremonies, we work with high-quality ceremonial grade cacao, ensuring that our participants receive the full spectrum of benefits that this unique plant medicine has to offer. We combine the cacao with different spices such as vanilla, cardamom and cinnamon.

The difference between regular cacao and ceremonial grade cacao is the way it has been processed and prepared. For ceremonial cacao, the processing is kept as minimal and pure as possible. Freshly harvested beans are fermented and then dried, but never roasted. The main intention is to leave the cacao in its most natural state, retaining all the precious nutrients and energies that cacao offers, nothing added nor removed.

Ceremonial grade cacao is a rich source of nutrients and contains a variety of compounds that have been shown to support physical and emotional health. Cacao is rich in antioxidants, which can help protect the body against oxidative stress and inflammation. It also contains magnesium, iron, zinc and other essential minerals that support healthy bodily function. In addition, cacao contains a group of compounds called flavanols, which have been shown to have a positive effect on mood, cognitive function, and cardiovascular health.

During our ceremonies, we use ceremonial grade cacao made from certified organic cacao grown in Bali. The beans are peeled, ground and packaged without any tempering (which requires extra heating), and without adding or removing anything, resulting in 100% pure cacao, that has been locally sourced in an ethical way.

The origins of cacao

Cacao, known as "The Food of the Gods", has an ancient history rooted in Central and South America, originating from the Maya word Ka'kau', as well as the Mayan word Chocol'ha.

Indigenous cultures used cacao in sacred rituals and ceremonies, believed to facilitate connection with the divine, open the heart, and promote healing.

During a cacao ceremony, ceremonial-grade cacao is prepared and consumed with intention. The ceremony combines elements like meditation, music, and rituals to create a holistic experience. By honoring the ancient roots of cacao, we embrace the wisdom of indigenous cultures while fostering personal growth and collective healing. Cacao ceremonies provide a gateway to self-exploration, heart-opening, and a profound connection to ourselves, others, and the world around us.
